16 December 2006

Today marked the end of an era as Flt Lt Tony Oakes retired from Air Cadet gliding. He will be sorely missed by all but especially by some of the younger element as he was always on hand to give advice (and constructive criticism!). We wish Tony all the best in the future. Also, CI Adam Steventon was awarded his Grade 2 Pilot status after a successful check-flight with the CFI, Flt Lt Barry Cartwright. Well done.

11 JUNE 2006 - COSFORD AIRSHOW

633 VGS  not only had a static display but also flew a prelude to the flying display. The static display was well attended throughout the day with many visitors young and old alike coming to have a look at the aircraft and generally what a VGS does. Photos will follow in the next few weeks. The Sqn also got a slot on Radio Shropshire talking about the role of a VGS and what we do.

27 MAY-4 JUNE - WHIT COURSE

The Whit course resulted in 8 Gliding Scholarship Awards and Wings being awarded. Two more students are coming back to complete the course soon. Unfortunately, many of the days were lost due to the cross wind being too strong for student training. However, some useful SCT was flown in demanding conditions. Once again, AWO Ray Smith did an excellent job as the course adj.
