All VGS' are now to be known as Volunteer Gliding Squadrons instead of Volunteer Gliding Schools, however the VGS acronym will be kept for obvious reasons. This decision comes after months of deliberating at Air Board level. So from now on we will be known as 633 Volunteer Gliding Squadron.

AUGUST COURSE 2005

The 2005 August Course proved to be a successful one yet again, despite the British weather doing its very best to make it a failure...  Six Silver Wings and three Blue Wings were awarded, as well as a set of Gold Wings for an AGT student who returned from last Summer’s GS Course. One of 633's staff was also awarded his G2.

Well done to all the students who worked especially hard to achieve their wings, and a special thanks to AWO Ray Smith for his usual sterling work as Course Adjutant. See the Photo Gallery for pictures from the course.

9-10 JULY 2005

On the 9th and 10th of July 2005, 633 moved from its usual home at DCAE Cosford to RAF Shawbury for the weekend, due to the Large Model Association flying display being held on the Cosford airfield. At Shawbury the school flew 117 cadets on Gliding Induction Courses in two days, beating the previous record of 107. This was only achieved by hard work, teamwork and determination - on what turned out to be a roaster of a weekend.
